Wake Forest President’s Ball A Success

The 7th Biennial Wake Forest President’s Ball was held on Friday, September 15th at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum. This Wake Forest biennial tradition provides an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to come together and celebrate Wake Forest during Homecoming. Started in 2005 as a celebration of President Hatch’s inauguration, this fun tradition has continued to be a favorite of staff and students ever since. This particular event is special to undergraduates as most students will only experience it twice during their time at Wake Forest.

Students Brittany Helms and Jaimie Fashimpaur led a student committee, which has been working tirelessly to plan the President’s Ball since last spring. This year’s theme was a “walk through time”, and the Coliseum was adorned with black and gold, top hats, watch faces, and school newspaper pages from various years. Guests enjoyed entertainment on the main stage from the band Diverse Groove and student DJ Nick Gerace, while the jazz band Swing On provided the music for shagging in the jazz room.

President Nathan O. Hatch and Mrs. Hatch made their grand entrance at 11 o’clock, arriving to the fight song on a motorcycle driven by none other than the Demon Deacon. After making remarks to the students, the President and his wife danced to Stand By Me performed by Diverse Groove. Dressed in semi-formal attire, the community enjoyed a night celebrating their alma mater and dancing the night away with friends.
