25 Dogs Were Released During the Break-In From the San Bernardino Animal Shelter

The San Bernardino Department of Animal Services has been working tirelessly to track down 25 dogs after a break-in at the city shelter earlier this week.

Shelter Break-In: What Happened?

  • Date: Early Wednesday morning
  • How It Happened: The suspect used bolt cutters to cut the locks off multiple kennels, setting the dogs loose into the city.
  • Dogs Affected: 25 dogs were released; all but one have been safely recovered.

San Bernardino Animal Services Director Kristine Watson expressed shock:

“The safety and well-being of the animals in our care are our top priority, and this action put many of our dogs in danger.”

Investigation & Arrest

Person of Interest Arrested: Authorities arrested a suspect on unrelated charges.

Dumped Dogs:

  • Four of the missing dogs were found inside a dumpster.
  • Veterinarians examined them and confirmed they are in good condition.

The dogs will be available for adoption soon.
