Firefighters Quickly Deal With Brushfire Near Homeless Encampment in Jurupa Valley Riverbed

JURUPA VALLEY, CA – Firefighters swiftly extinguished a small brush fire that ignited near a homeless encampment in Jurupa Valley on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Fire Contained Within an Hour

The fire was reported just after 3:30 p.m. on the northern bank of the Santa Ana River bottom, near Market Street and Via Cerro, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple fire crews responded to the scene, battling flames slowly spreading through dense vegetation.

By 4:00 p.m., firefighters had stopped forward progress, and within an hour, the fire was fully contained.

Cause Under Investigation

The fire burned just over a quarter of an acre before it was extinguished. Officials have not yet determined the cause.

No injuries were reported, and no structures were threatened.
