Los Angeles, CA — A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Saturday evening after being struck by a car involved in a street race in South Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
The fatal incident occurred around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Normandie Avenue and 66th Street. Two vehicles — a grey Dodge Charger and a dark-colored Chevrolet Tahoe — were reportedly racing southbound on Normandie Avenue when the collision happened.
“The victim, walking outside of the unmarked crosswalk, was struck by the grey Dodge Charger,” the LAPD said in a statement.
Suspects Flee the Scene
Instead of stopping to assist the victim, both drivers fled the area immediately after the crash. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a nearby hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigation and Reward for Information
The LAPD is actively investigating the incident and searching for both drivers involved in the race. A standing reward of up to $50,000 is available for anyone who provides information that leads to:
- Identification of the suspect(s)
- Arrest of the driver(s)
- Conviction in connection with the fatal hit-and-run
