In Malibu, Debris Flow Pushed a LAFD Vehicle Into the Ocean

A massive debris flow in Malibu sent a Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) vehicle plunging into the Pacific Ocean during a powerful rainstorm on Thursday evening.

The incident occurred just after 5 p.m. on Big Rock Road, where heavy rains triggered a mudslide that swept the vehicle off the road and down a cliffside—while a firefighter was still inside.

Firefighter Escapes with Minor Injuries

According to LAFD Public Information Officer Erik Scott:

“Fortunately, the member was able to exit his vehicle and reach safety with minor injuries.”

The firefighter was taken to a local hospital as a precaution but is expected to recover.
