MECAM Fellowships at the University of Tunis 2025–2026: Who Can Apply?

The Merian Centre for Advanced Studies in the Maghreb (MECAM), in partnership with Université de Tunis, Forum Transregionale Studien, and leading academic institutions like Philipps-Universität Marburg, Universität Leipzig, and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), has announced the MECAM Fellowships 2025-2026.

This prestigious program offers an eight-month, fully funded research residency in Tunis, Tunisia, from September 2025 to April 2026.

About MECAM Fellowships 2025-2026

The fellowship is designed for six postdoctoral and three advanced researchers interested in interdisciplinary studies. Participants will engage in academic research and collaborations under the program’s core theme:

Theme: “Imagining Futures: Dealing with Disparity”

Fellows will work within one or more of MECAM’s five Interdisciplinary Research Fields (IRFs):

1. Aesthetics & Cultural Practice – Exploring artistic and cultural expressions.
2. Inequality & Mobility – Studying social and economic disparities.
3. Memory & Justice – Examining historical justice and collective memory.
4. Resources & Sustainability – Investigating environmental and economic sustainability.
5. Identities & Beliefs – Analyzing social identities and religious beliefs.

This program promotes global academic exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers from the Maghreb, Middle East, Europe, and beyond.
