NYC Teen Accused in Subway Joyride Reportedly Caught With MTA Stolen Equipment

A 15-year-old New York City teenager, previously arrested for hijacking a subway train for a joyride, has been arrested again—this time for allegedly stealing MTA radios, keys, and an employee ID, according to police.

Teen Caught With Stolen MTA Gear

Arrest Details:

  • Location: The Bronx
  • Date: Between Feb. 18-25.
  • Items Stolen: MTA radios, train keys, and an employee ID
  • Additional Crimes: Suspected in at least five other MTA-related thefts

Social Media Evidence:

  • Instagram pictures show the teen and another individual standing on a subway train, wearing orange vests and carrying a large ring of keys and a bag.

How He Was Caught:

  • The teen triggered a metal detector alarm at his Bronx school.
  • When confronted, he dropped his backpack and ran home.
  • Police later arrested him at his residence.

Prior Arrest for R Train Joyride

January Incident:

  • The teen was one of four minors arrested for illegally operating an R train in January.

Charges Filed

  • Burglary
  • Reckless endangerment
  • Criminal possession of stolen property
  • Criminal mischief

Currently Held At: A juvenile detention facility
