The 40th Annual Kingdom Day Parade in South Los Angeles Draws Hundreds of Locals

Community members and local leaders gathered in South Los Angeles to commemorate the 40th Annual Kingdom Day Parade, a celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and legacy.

Originally scheduled for January, the event was postponed due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Known as the “world’s largest and longest-running celebration of Dr. King’s life,” this year’s parade carried the theme:

“Peace and Unity, Let it Start with Us”

A Celebration of Legacy and Community

The day began with a pre-parade breakfast, where Mayor Karen Bass spoke about the event’s significance:

“It is always an opportunity to renew our commitment to our community and especially to heal in these times right now.” – Mayor Karen Bass

Parade Route & Attractions

  • The parade started at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard & Western Avenue.
  • Floats, marching bands, equestrians, and live performers entertained hundreds of spectators along the route.
  • The parade traveled south on Vernon Avenue, ending in Crenshaw Boulevard.

Grand Marshal: Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump led the parade.
