The Army Corps of Engineers Released Map to Track Phase 2 of Wildfire Recovery

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has introduced an interactive map to assist Los Angeles residents in tracking Phase 2 of wildfire debris removal, providing real-time updates on cleanup progress following the Eaton and Palisades Fires.

“Transparency and timely information are critical as we work to safely and quickly remove wildfire debris,” said Col. Eric Swenson, commander of the USACE Los Angeles Wildfires Recovery Field Office.

The map aims to keep residents informed by offering a clear, color-coded breakdown of:

  • Areas scheduled for cleanup by the Corps of Engineers.
  • Properties assigned to contractors for specialized debris removal.
  • Sites where cleanup has been completed.

Los Angeles’ Two-Phase Wildfire Recovery Plan

Phase 1: Hazardous Material Cleanup

  • Led by Chief Recovery Officer Steve Soboroff.
  • $100 million emergency cleanup operation.
  • Over 500 EPA personnel worked to remove hazardous materials and prepare sites for full debris removal.

Phase 2: General Debris Removal (Now Underway)

  • Property owners had the option of free cleanup from USACE or hiring an approved contractor.
  • Deadline to sign up: March 31, 2025.
  • Estimated completion: January 2026.

Important Reminder: Residents needing debris removal must enroll before the deadline to qualify for assistance.
