Los Angeles police have released new surveillance footage of a violent broad-daylight stabbing in East Hollywood. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect responsible for the attack, which left a woman seriously injured.
Details of the Attack
The stabbing occurred on January 18 around noon near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Edgemont Street. According to the LAPD, a man was seen approaching the woman, who was walking with two others, before suddenly attacking her.
The chilling video shows the suspect holding an object—believed to be a knife—before stabbing the victim multiple times.
Residents React to the Disturbing Incident
The attack has left many in the neighborhood feeling unsafe. Lilian Godinez, who works nearby, expressed her concerns, saying, “Very scared. A lot of crazy people in the area.”
Another local, Miguel Lopez, who also works in the area, stated that more security is needed to prevent such violent crimes. Lopez even provided NBC4 with additional surveillance footage, capturing the suspect fleeing after the stabbing.
Victim’s Condition and Suspect’s Escape
The injured woman was rushed to a hospital, where she received treatment. Fortunately, she has since recovered from her injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect ran east and was last seen entering the Metro station at Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.
LAPD Seeks Public’s Help
In an effort to catch the suspect, the LAPD has released both video footage and a photo of the attacker. They are urging anyone who recognizes him or has any information about the crime to come forward.
