What They’re Saying

Head Coach Tom Walter

“‘Make Them Feel You’ is central to our team culture and identity. Michele Acosta McCreary was one of those unique individuals who had the ability to make you feel like the only person in the room. She also made you feel like anything was possible. Our team’s relationship with the Acosta and McCreary family dates back to Bob and Michele’s niece, Ayla, who worked with the baseball team for four years while an undergrad at Wake. It is a privilege to honor the Acosta and McCreary name this season. Every time our players take the field, they carry her spirit of giving, excellence, and commitment to others with them.”

Junior Infielder Marek Houston

“Playing baseball at Wake Forest is an incredible privilege, and we all understand that we are part of something bigger than just the game. Wearing this sticker and seeing her initials on our helmets and on the outfield wall is a reminder of the impact Michele had on so many lives. My teammates and I are honored to carry her legacy forward and represent the values she stood for every time we take the field.”

Vice President & Director of Athletics John Currie

“Michele and Bob McCreary have long exemplified the true meaning of Wake Forest’s Pro Humanitate motto, which calls on us to use our talents and resources for the good of others. Through their unwavering generosity, leadership, and care for others, they have left an indelible mark on Wake Forest and beyond. It is only fitting that we celebrate Michele’s legacy in this way, ensuring her spirit continues to inspire generations of Demon Deacons.”

Executive Associate Athletic Director Barry Faircloth

“Bob and Michele McCreary have been pillars of the Wake Forest community for many years, and their generosity has touched the lives of so many student-athletes. Having Michele’s presence represented at The Couch throughout the 2025 season is a testament to her lasting impact. We are proud to honor her and to ensure that her legacy remains a part of the Wake Forest community for years to come.”
