Wake Forest's Molly Dreher Brings Voice in Sport Expertise to D.C.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.Molly Dreher, a graduate student-athlete for the Wake Forest cross country and track & field teams, is making an impact both on and off the track.

Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Project Management, Dreher is set to graduate in May 2025. She previously earned a Bachelor of Science with minors in Gender Studies and Chemistry from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2024.

Academic and Athletic Excellence

Dreher’s dedication to academics has earned her numerous honors, including:

  • NCAA Academic All-American
  • McKeon Award Recipient (Top student-athlete, Saint Mary’s College, Class of 2024)
  • 2025 All-ACC Academic Team

Meanwhile, on the track, Dreher competes in:

  • Indoor events: 1-mile and 3,000 meters
  • Outdoor events: 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters

During the 2025 indoor season, she set personal bests in:

  • Mile: 4:45.36 (5th place finish)
  • 1,000m: 2:52.83 (7th place finish)

Championing Women’s Sports Advocacy

Beyond her athletic and academic achievements, Dreher is a passionate policy researcher and advocate for the Voice in Sports Foundation (VIS), a digital platform dedicated to empowering women in sports through mentorship, education, and Title IX advocacy.

Title IX Advocacy and Leadership

  • In 2021, Dreher began training in Title IX and joined VIS, working to close the gender gap in sports research.
  • At Saint Mary’s, she founded a women’s athlete group to promote community and advocacy.
  • At Wake Forest, she conducted Title IX training sessions and built a team to expand education on campus.
  • On Feb. 5, 2025, she traveled to Washington, D.C. with VIS members to advocate for increased support for women in sports.

Recognized as a Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award Winner

In 2023, Dreher’s commitment to leadership and service earned her an ESPYS award as a Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award recipient, an honor recognizing young leaders dedicated to equity and progress in sports.

As she continues excelling in her studies, athletics, and advocacy, Dreher stands as an inspiration to student-athletes and young women in sports everywhere.
