Wrong-Way Driver Dies After Head-on Collision in Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. — A 29-year-old driver was killed early Monday morning after a head-on collision on Jamboree Road, according to the Irvine Police Department.

The crash occurred just after 1:30 a.m. near Warner Avenue when the driver of a Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Jamboree Road and collided with another vehicle.

Details of the Incident

The driver of the Hyundai was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Department later identified him as Joshua Kevin Soto, a 29-year-old resident of La Habra.

Other Driver Unharmed

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash was not injured, police said.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
